Melek Mosso — Biography

Melek Mosso's real name is Melek Davarcı; she was born on 11 November 1988 in Kayseri and grew up mostly in Denizli, where her family lived. She wrote her first composition at the age of seven and began lessons in bağlama and Turkish folk music at the Denizli Municipal Conservatory at nine. During her years at a fine arts high school she took up the flute, later completing a degree in music education at Aydın Adnan Menderes University.

Her stage name is drawn from an Italian musical term meaning to speed up gradually. After moving to Istanbul she performed around the Kadıköy and Beşiktaş areas while also teaching piano, flute, solfège and harmony to students preparing for conservatory exams. She competed on The Voice Turkey in 2015-2016, then reached a wide audience with her 2017 cover of Vursalar Ölemem and with Hiç Işık Yok, a song she recorded for the television series Çukur. Her self-written single Kedi also became widely known.

She married actor Serkan Sağdıç in 2023 and divorced in 2025. In April 2026 she was detained as part of a drug investigation, and that July she performed for tens of thousands of people on the closing night of the Kırkpınar Festival.
