Melike Şahin — Biography

With family roots in the Divriği district of Sivas, Melike Şahin was born in Istanbul on 18 April 1989, took singing lessons from Timur Selçuk at the Contemporary Music Center while attending Beşiktaş Atatürk Anatolian High School, and graduated in Sociology from Boğaziçi University in 2012. She began her music career as the vocalist of Baba Zula until 2017, while also running the side project Melikşah ve Saz Arkadaşları, performing an arabesque-leaning repertoire at a Beyoğlu tavern. In 2017 she recorded three songs for Tony Gatlif's film Djam, played a concert at Cannes ahead of the film's world premiere there, and launched her solo career the same year with the singles Bi' fırlatsam and Deli Kan. After a heavy touring schedule in 2018-2019 and hosting the live show Diva Bebe Show, she released her debut album Merhem in February 2021, led by the single Uykumun Boynunu Bükme; unable to perform live during the pandemic, she reached fans through online streams before giving her first official concert at Zorlu PSM's platform in June 2021. She followed with a live album in 2022 and a second studio album, Akkor, in 2024. Since 2025 she has served as a judge on TV8's O Ses Türkiye. In 2026, after sold-out concerts in Bursa and Denizli, she announced her pregnancy and gave a farewell concert before giving birth.
