Mert Günok — Biography
Born Fehmi Mert Günok on 1 March 1989 in Karabük, the goalkeeper is the son of former custodian Mahir Günok. After a brief spell in Kocaelispor's youth setup he joined Fenerbahçe's academy, turned professional in 2009, and went on to win league and cup honours with the club's first team.
When his Fenerbahçe contract expired in 2015 he moved to Bursaspor for two seasons, then signed for İstanbul Başakşehir in 2017, guarding the net during the 2019-20 campaign that brought the club its only Süper Lig title to date. A 2021 transfer to Beşiktaş brought a Turkish Super Cup that same year, and in the 2025-26 winter window he returned to Fenerbahçe, where he lifted a third career Super Cup.
Capped for Turkey from under-16 level in 2004 and making his senior debut in 2012, Günok was the first-choice goalkeeper during the record-setting Euro 2020 qualifying campaign under coach Şenol Güneş and again minded the goal at Euro 2024. Across his club career he has amassed three Süper Lig, three Turkish Cup, and five Super Cup titles, and he remains Fenerbahçe's current goalkeeper.
