Mert Turak — Biography

Mert Turak is a Turkish actor born on March 29, 1980, in İzmir. His father's family comes from Malatya and his mother's from Macedonia; his mother worked as a tax officer and his father as a teacher. He graduated from the Theatre Department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory and later completed a master's degree at Bahçeşehir University, giving him a solid grounding in stage performance.

He first appeared on screen in the late 1990s with the series Yılan Hikayesi, later taking roles in productions such as Avrupa Yakası and Komiser Nevzat, and went on to notable credits including the series Yeşil Deniz (2014) and the film Mucize 2: Aşk (2019). His role in the 2023 series Kızıl Goncalar brought him renewed attention, and in 2026 he joined the cast of the historical drama Nizamülmülk Altın Çağ; around the same time he also appeared on stage alongside Aslıhan Malbora in the play Eşyanın Tabiatı.

In his personal life, he married Birgül Kurtçu on June 21, 2020; the couple decided to divorce in May 2023.
