Metin Akan — Biography

Metin Akan is a Turkish footballer born on 28 May 1983 in Bursa. He began playing football with the local clubs A. Vefikpaşaspor and K. Kooperatifspor before completing his youth training at Bursaspor, where he played from 2001 to 2004. In 2004 he turned professional with İnegölspor, a spell in which his ball skills on the right foot drew attention, and moved on to Süper Lig side Manisaspor in 2006 and to capital club MKE Ankaragücü in 2008.

After his contract was terminated amid a governance crisis at Ankaragücü at the start of the 2011-12 season, Akan signed with İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, the club now known as İstanbul Başakşehir, in the closing week of that summer's transfer window. He joined Adanaspor in 2012, and in later years returned to İnegölspor before turning out for lower-league sides such as Kurtuluşspor. Akan also represented Turkey at under-20 international level, over a long career that spanned clubs from the Süper Lig down to the lower leagues.
