Mevlüt Erdinç — Biography
Mevlüt Erdinç was born on 25 February 1987 in Saint-Claude, France, to Turkish parents, and built his career as a forward — in France his surname is often rendered "Erding." His combative style at Saint-Étienne earned him the nickname "Bizon" (Bison). Erdinç spent most of his career in Ligue 1, scoring more than 90 goals across spells with Sochaux, Paris Saint-Germain, Rennes, Saint-Étienne, Guingamp and Metz, and won the Coupe de France with Sochaux in 2007 and with PSG in 2010.
He made his debut for the Turkish national team in March 2008 and was part of the squad that reached the semifinals of UEFA Euro 2008 that year. Later in his career he played for Hannover 96 in Germany and for Fenerbahçe and Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey. Erdinç announced his retirement via social media on 30 August 2022, before returning to the pitch with an amateur club in August 2025.
