Münir Nurettin Selçuk — Biography
Münir Nurettin Selçuk (1900, Istanbul – 27 April 1981, Istanbul) was a Turkish classical music singer, tenor and composer. Some sources give his birth year as 1899, 1901 or 1902.
Born in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, Selçuk was educated at the Darülelhan conservatory. Over a career lasting from the 1920s until his death, he became one of the leading figures of Turkish classical music.
He also appeared in films, including Kahveci Güzeli (1941), Hasret (1944) and Üçüncü Selim'in Gözdesi (1950). He was the father of the musician Timur Selçuk.
