Naşide Göktürk — Biography
Naşide Göktürk (12 March 1960, İstanbul – 30 August 2016, Bodrum, Muğla) was a Turkish poet, lyricist, composer and singer.
She is best known for the song "Yüreğim Rehin", which also gave its name to her first album. She spent her childhood and youth on Büyükada. She began writing during her school years. For a time she worked as an accountant and ran a café in Ankara. She released her first album in the mid-1990s. On 27 July 2015, her close friend, the Turkish classical music artist Onur Akay, announced that Naşide Göktürk had been diagnosed with lung and pancreatic cancer. Akay's statements in the press deeply saddened the arts community and the singer's millions of fans.
After receiving treatment for lung cancer at a private hospital in Bodrum for some time, Naşide Göktürk died on 30 August 2016. In accordance with her will, she was buried in Bodrum.
She wrote love songs such as "Sakın Ha" and "Yüreğim Rehin" in dedication to the actor Altan Erkekli, to whom she was engaged for a time.
The words and music of the song "Allah Şahit", featured on Aşkın Nur Yengi's album "Haberci", were also written by Naşide Göktürk.
