Necip Uysal

Necip Uysal — Biography

Necip Uysal came into the world on 24 January 1991 in Istanbul's Bakırköy district, the third son of a municipal bus driver, and traces part of his family background to Kosovar Albanians. He took up football at an amateur club at age ten and joined Beşiktaş's youth setup in 2004. He broke into the senior side during the 2009-10 campaign, launching a career spent entirely with the club, in which he shuttled between midfield and defensive duties. Rising from the academy, Uysal eventually took on the captaincy, racking up more than 460 official appearances for Beşiktaş and setting the club's European appearance record along the way, cementing his status as one of the defining figures of the team's modern era. He shared in several league and cup triumphs during that span. He was capped once for Turkey's senior side in 2010, after coming through various youth national teams beforehand. Dropped from the squad in December 2025, Uysal revealed he would hang up his boots at season's end; following his official send-off in May 2026, the club decided to stage a special farewell match in his honor.
