Necmi Perekli — Biography

Born in 1948 in Gümüşhane, Necmi Perekli is a former Turkish footballer who also played for the Turkish national team. After spells at Giresunspor, Beşiktaş and Altay, he joined Trabzonspor in the late 1970s and went on to become one of the club's most celebrated historical figures.

Perekli became the first Trabzonspor player to finish as the Turkish first-division's top scorer, netting 18 goals in 22 appearances during the 1976-77 season and helping the club defend the title it had won the previous year. After retiring from playing, he worked as a sports writer for the newspaper Fotomaç, and he remains regarded as a legend within the Trabzonspor community today.
