Nilay Kartaltepe — Biography

Nilay Kartaltepe was born on 13 January 1979 in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul. A point guard, she began her professional career in 1996 and spent many years competing in the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League for clubs including Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Bursaspor. As one of the most experienced members of the national team, she represented Turkey at EuroBasket tournaments and the 2012 London Olympics, earning a reputation for strong leadership and court vision.

After hanging up her jersey at the end of the 2021-2022 season, Kartaltepe went on to take charge of the Women's National Teams Directorate at the Turkish Basketball Federation, continuing to shape the development of women's basketball from an administrative role. She married Fenerbahçe volleyball player Cengizhan Kartaltepe in 2010.
