Ömer Ali Şahiner — Biography

Ömer Ali Şahiner was born in the Ereğli district of Konya in early 1992; he began playing at a local youth academy, moved on to Konya Şekerspor, and turned professional in 2008. Able to operate in midfield or at right-back, he quickly became a regular fixture in the side.

Over roughly a decade at Konyaspor he made hundreds of league and cup appearances and won several trophies with the club. He joined İstanbul Başakşehir in 2021, made his debut for the club against Fenerbahçe, and has remained there ever since, extending his contract by two years in 2024. Şahiner has earned dozens of caps across Turkey's youth national sides, representing the under-17s at a world championship and the under-19s at a European championship. In July 2026 he signed a fresh deal with the club and was named team captain, publicly sharing the squad's ambitions in European competition.
