Ömer Şişmanoğlu — Biography
Striker Ömer Hasan Şişmanoğlu came into the world in Hamburg, Germany, on 1 August 1989 and carries both Turkish and German nationality. He began playing for Turkish amateur clubs around Hamburg, including SC Vatan Gücü, before working his way up through several local sides into Hamburg SV's youth academy.
He turned professional with St. Pauli in 2007, where strong performances for the reserve side helped it earn promotion, and in 2009 moved to Süper Lig club Kayserispor, where he spent four seasons as a striker. A prolific loan spell at Antalyaspor in 2012–13 led to a permanent transfer there, and in 2013 he signed a four-year deal with Beşiktaş.
Loan spells at Eskişehirspor, Konyaspor and Antalyaspor followed before he returned to Beşiktaş for the 2016–17 season, contributing to the club's Süper Lig title win in 2017. Over the course of his career he also turned out for Turkey's under-21 side and its senior B team. His path since has taken him through Tuzlaspor in 2021 and a third-tier Turkish club two years later, before he signed with Sakaryaspor on a free transfer at the start of 2025.
