Osman Arpacıoğlu — Biography

Osman Arpacıoğlu (5 January 1947, Ankara – 5 December 2021, İzmir) was a Turkish professional footballer and later a sports writer. A forward, he was nicknamed "Bay Gol" ("Mr Goal").

He began his professional career at Hacettepespor and went on to play for Mersin İdman Yurdu, Fenerbahçe and Balıkesirspor, becoming a legendary figure in the histories of Fenerbahçe and Mersin İdman Yurdu. In the 1972–73 season he finished as the league's top scorer, and on 14 February 1973 he scored the Turkey national team's 200th goal, against Algeria.

He ended his playing career with the Balıkesirspor–Fenerbahçe match on 9 June 1980 and died in İzmir on 5 December 2021.
