Recep Öztürk — Biography

Recep Öztürk is a Turkish former footballer, born on 20 June 1977 in Tekirdağ, who played as a goalkeeper. After his time at Sakaryaspor, he transferred to Gençlerbirliği in 2006, and over his career also played for Adana Demirspor, Ankaragücü and Giresunspor.

Having moved to Konyaspor for the 2009-10 season, the experienced goalkeeper was among the players named in a match-fixing and betting investigation that opened during the club's winter training camp in Antalya. Öztürk was detained at the training facility on 25 March, told the press he did not accept the accusations, and was held at Metris Prison along with a group of players that included Fatih Akyel.

He was released pending trial by court order on 23 July 2010, and played for second-division club Karşıyaka from 2010 to 2013 before retiring from football.
