Robert Ginty — Biography
Robert Winthrop Ginty was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 14 November 1948, developed an early interest in the arts and studied acting at Yale.
He spent his early years working in theatre, moving to Hollywood only in the mid-1970s; on screen he took supporting parts in Hal Ashby's Bound for Glory and Coming Home and had a recurring part on The Paper Chase.
His starring turn in James Glickenhaus's vigilante thriller The Exterminator (1980) launched him as an action-film lead, and through the early 1990s he headlined pictures such as The Act, White Fire, Mission Kill and Programmed to Kill, while directing and co-starring in The Bounty Hunter and Lady Dragon.
He subsequently turned to directing television episodes for shows including China Beach, Xena: Warrior Princess, Nash Bridges and Charmed, later became a theatre director, and died in Los Angeles on 21 September 2009.
