Şehrîbana Kurdî — Biography

Şehrîbana Kurdî is a Kurdish singer born in 1973 in İzmir; her family originally comes from the Mazıdağı district of Mardin. Her involvement with music began in 1987, when at the age of 14 she started singing with local school groups, and she went on to become a professional performer from 1991 onward.

She titled her first album "Ez keçim keça Kurdanim" (I am a Kurdish girl). Performing largely in the Kurmanji dialect, she became a recognized name among Kurdish-speaking audiences.
