Semih Şentürk — Biography
Semih Şentürk (born 29 April 1983 in İzmir) is a Turkish former international footballer who played as a centre-forward and has since worked as a coach and television pundit. Listed at 1.83 m, he spent most of his career at Fenerbahçe, having come through its youth system; sources differ on the exact span, giving either 1999-2014 or 2001-2013, but agree on five Süper Lig titles and two Turkish Cups. He later played for İstanbul Başakşehir.
He was the Süper Lig's top scorer in 2007-08 with 17 goals. For Turkey he is credited with 28 caps and 8 goals between 2007 and 2011, and he featured at UEFA Euro 2008, where Turkey reached the semi-finals; his stoppage-time equaliser in the quarter-final against Croatia remains one of the tournament's defining moments. His habit of scoring after coming off the bench earned him the nickname "Nöbetçi Golcü" (Striker on Duty).
