Serap Yücesir — Biography
Serap Yücesir was born on 18 March 1973 in Kars, Turkey. She took up basketball at the age of 13 with Bayraklıspor in İzmir before moving on to Urla Gençlik. In 1990 she joined Fenerbahçe, where she spent the next thirteen seasons as a power forward, serving for long stretches as team captain and helping the club to twelve championship titles; she spent one season at Galatasaray before returning to Fenerbahçe. She was part of the Turkish national team that won gold at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain.
Later in her career she played for Istanbul University and, for the 2007–2008 season, transferred to Panküp TED Kayseri College in the Turkish Women's Basketball League. After hanging up her boots, she went on to coach alongside her former teammate Arzu Özyiğit at a women's basketball school in Kartal, Istanbul.
A pharmacy graduate, Yücesir was unable to practice her profession for much of her playing career; she now runs her own community pharmacy in the Maltepe district of Istanbul and has a son.
