Serdar Taşçı — Biography
Serdar Tasci (born 24 April 1987 in Esslingen am Neckar) is a German former professional footballer of Turkish descent who played as a centre-back. Coming up through the youth ranks of VfB Stuttgart, he broke into the first team in 2006 and remained with the club until 2013, making 181 senior appearances, winning the 2006-07 Bundesliga title, and captaining the side from 2011 onward.
In 2013 he moved to Russian club Spartak Moscow, where a serious injury sidelined him for much of his debut season. Later in his career he also had a loan spell with Bayern Munich.
Capped 14 times for Germany between 2008 and 2010, Tasci was part of the German squad that finished third at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and he was honored with the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt (Silver Laurel Leaf) for his sporting achievements.
