Serhat Akın — Biography

Niyazi Serhat Akın is a Turkish-German former footballer, born on 5 June 1981 in Bretten, Germany. He began playing football at the age of 10 in the Karlsruher SC youth academy, represented Germany's junior national teams, then returned to Turkey to sign with Fenerbahçe and went on to play for the Turkish national team.

After Fenerbahçe, he played for RSC Anderlecht, Kocaelispor, Konyaspor, Turgutluspor and Denizlispor, before ending his playing career in 2013 with the German club Berliner AK 07.

Following his football career, Akın took part in the 2017 season of the Tv8 reality show Survivor. In September 2024 he was the victim of an armed attack and was wounded in the leg; the related court case was still ongoing in 2026. In an emotional live television appearance, the former national footballer spoke about no longer being able to play football with his son as he once did because of his injury, and he continues to occasionally share memories from his playing career.
