Serkan Acar — Biography

Serkan Acar (31 August 1948 – 18 April 2013, Istanbul) was a Turkish footballer and sports administrator. His birthplace is inconsistent across sources: most give Istanbul, while the Turkish-language Wikipedia states Ankara.

He spent the bulk of his career at Fenerbahçe, making 295 appearances and scoring 13 goals over eleven years between 1967 and 1978. A defender, he was also used at times in midfield. He won the Turkish league title in 1967–68, 1969–70, 1973–74, 1974–75 and 1977–78, along with the 1973–74 Turkish Cup. After retiring he served as general manager of Fenerbahçe.

Turkish sources also describe him as a film actor and a politician alongside his administrative work. The club continues to mark the anniversary of his death.
