Shane Larkin — Biography

DeShane Davis Larkin (born October 2, 1992, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American-Turkish professional basketball player who plays the point guard position. He most recently played for Anadolu Efes of the Basketball Super League and EuroLeague. He represents the Turkey national team internationally.

Larkin played college basketball at the University of Miami and was selected 18th overall in the first round of the 2013 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks, but was traded to the Dallas Mavericks the same day. After the Mavericks, he went on to play in the NBA for the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. Following the 2016–17 season with Saski Baskonia of the Liga ACB and EuroLeague, he returned to the NBA by signing with the Boston Celtics. In 2018, he signed with Anadolu Efes of the Basketball Super League and EuroLeague. In 2019 he played in the EuroLeague final and became the top scorer of the finals with 29 points against CSKA. In the 2020–21 season, Larkin was selected to the EuroLeague 50-40-90 club and set a tournament record by scoring 49 points in a single game during the season. That record was broken in 2024 by Nigel Hayes-Davis, who scored 50 points in a game. He won back-to-back EuroLeague championships in 2021 and 2022, being named to the EuroLeague Team of the Season both times. Larkin is also the player who has been named EuroLeague MVP of the Round the most times.

Larkin achieved numerous domestic successes with Anadolu Efes. Under head coach Ergin Ataman in particular, he won the Turkish League championship in 2019, 2021, and 2023. He won the Presidential Cup in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2024, and the Turkish Cup title in 2022. In 2025, Larkin was named by EuroLeague Basketball to the list of the 25 greatest players in EuroLeague history. Since 2020, Larkin has played for the Turkey national team as a naturalized player. He was also part of the squad that won the silver medal at the 2025 European Basketball Championship.
