Sibil Pektorosoğlu — Biography

Sibil Pektorosoğlu, known mononymously by her stage name Sibil, is a Turkish singer of Armenian descent, born on July 31, 1978 in Istanbul. A lyric soprano, she spent nearly two decades as a chorister and soloist in the Armenian Apostolic Church before turning to a solo recording career.

After leaving church music, she released two albums of Armenian-language songs and performed in front of the ancient ruins of Ani in eastern Anatolia, a concert she had long considered a personal dream. She also appeared at the opening ceremony of the 2015 Pan-Armenian Summer Games and at various festivals, and has received several medals and honors from the Armenian state for her artistic contributions.

In the summer of 2026, she unveiled a new duet, "Arorn ou Tatrakn" (Woodcock and Dove), built around a historic recording of the voice of Armenian composer Komitas (Gomidas); the release, accompanied by a music video, drew wide coverage in the Armenian press.
