Sinan Bolat — Biography

Sinan Bolat (born 3 September 1988 in Kayseri) is a Turkish-Belgian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Born in Turkey but raised in Belgian football, he holds both Turkish and Belgian citizenship.

With Standard Liège he won the 2009 Belgian league title, the 2009 Belgian Super Cup and the 2011 Belgian Cup. On 9 December 2009 he scored in stoppage time against AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League to make it 1-1 and send his club into the Europa League, becoming the first goalkeeper to score from open play in the competition.

He went on to play for clubs including Porto, Galatasaray, Genk, Royal Antwerp, Gent and Westerlo, before returning to Turkey in September 2025 to join TFF 1. Lig side Iğdır FK. Capped by Turkey at youth level and a senior international since 2011, he was described by the Turkish federation as the first diaspora-raised goalkeeper to play for the national team.
