Steven Rogers — Biography
Steven Maurice Rogers (born July 30, 1968, in Montgomery, Alabama) is a retired American basketball player who now works as a high school coach. The 6'5" guard began his college career at Middle Tennessee State before transferring to Alabama State, where he finished his final three seasons, and was picked by the New Jersey Nets in the second round of the 1992 NBA draft, though he never appeared in a regular-season game for the team.
Rogers built most of his playing career in Europe and South America, a period during which he also took Turkish citizenship and played in the Turkish Basketball League as a domestic-status player for Tofaş, Darüşşafaka and Türk Telekom. After hanging up his sneakers, he returned to Alabama State, where he served first as an assistant basketball coach and later as the university's director of football operations.
Since 2020 Rogers has coached at the high school level, leading Prattville High School and then Booker T. Washington High School in Tuskegee, before being named head coach of Central High School in Phenix City in 2025.
