Talat Özkarslı — Biography

Sefer Talat Özkarslı (21 March 1938 – 10 June 2020), known by his nickname Koçero, was a Turkish defender and later a football coach. He spent the peak of his playing career at Galatasaray between 1961 and 1971, taking over the captain's armband after club legend Metin Oktay's departure.

During that spell he helped Galatasaray win three Süper Lig titles and seven other domestic trophies. Özkarslı also played for Göztepe and for his hometown club Gaziantepspor, where he later took on administrative roles after retiring from playing.

Long regarded by Galatasaray supporters as one of the most important players in the club's history, Özkarslı died in his native Gaziantep on 10 June 2020 at the age of 82.
