24 is an American action thriller series created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran for Fox, starring Kiefer Sutherland as counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer. The show is defined by its real-time narration: each season covers 24 consecutive hours, with every episode depicting one hour of that day, a format emphasized through split screens and a digital clock.

Premiering on November 6, 2001, the series ran for eight seasons and 192 episodes, concluding on May 24, 2010; the television film 24: Redemption aired between seasons six and seven. A joint production of Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television, it won Golden Globe and Emmy awards for Best Drama Series. It returned in 2014 with the 12-episode limited series 24: Live Another Day, and is regarded as the longest-running American espionage-themed television drama.
