A Question of Taste

Directed by Bernard Rapp, who co-wrote the screenplay with Gilles Taurand, A Question of Taste (Une affaire de goût) is a 2000 French drama adapted from a novel by Philippe Balland. It follows Frédéric Delamont, an eccentric and phobic wealthy industrialist, who meets a young temporary waiter named Nicolas Rivière and hires him as his personal food taster.

As Delamont gradually molds Nicolas according to his own desires, what begins as an unusual but light professional arrangement slips into an increasingly dangerous game for both men. The 90-minute Canal+ production earned five César Award nominations, including one for Best Film, and stars Bernard Giraudeau alongside Jean-Pierre Lorit.
