Against Oblivion

Contre l'oubli (Against Oblivion) is a 1991 French documentary made collectively by around thirty filmmakers, among them Alain Resnais, Jean-Luc Godard, Nadine Trintignant and Chantal Akerman. The project was conceived as an act of solidarity with political prisoners held in different countries, aiming to keep their plight visible and resist the silence surrounding their detention. Each participating director contributed a short segment, and these pieces were joined together into a single work running about 110 minutes. Well-known figures including Catherine Deneuve and Jacques Higelin appear in the film, lending their presence to the appeal. The film was selected for the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival.
