Amelie rennt

Amelie rennt is a 2017 German-Italian co-production directed by Tobias Wiemann from a screenplay by Natja Brunckhorst and Jytte-Merle Böhrnsen. Developed under the working title Alpenbrennen, the film had its world premiere on 14 February 2017 as part of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, before opening in German cinemas on 21 September 2017.

The story follows Amelie, a teenager from Berlin who suffers from severe asthma. Sent to a clinic in the South Tyrolean Alps for treatment, she initially rebels against the stay, but her time in the mountains and the friendships she forms there gradually teach her to deal with her condition constructively rather than fight it. As she tests her own limits, Amelie gains confidence and takes important steps toward growing up. The cast includes Denis Moschitto and Jerry Hoffmann.
