Amore Rosso (Amore rosso) (translated)

Amore rosso is a 1952 Italian crime melodrama directed by Aldo Vergano, with a screenplay by Giuseppe Mangione. It is adapted from Marianna Sirca, the 1915 Sardinia-set novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Grazia Deledda, and is sometimes known by that title as well.

Interior scenes were shot at Cinecittà Studios in Rome, while location filming took place around Aggius and Tempio in Gallura rather than in Nuoro, the novel's original setting. The sets were designed by art director Alberto Boccianti. The cast is led by Marina Berti, Massimo Serato and Guido Celano, with Arnoldo Foà, Marcella Rovena and Walter Chiari also appearing. The film was not a commercial success upon its initial release.
