Time of Love (Aşk Nöbeti)
Time of Love (original title: Nobat-e âšeqi) is a 1990 romantic drama film written and directed by Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Although categorized as an Iranian film, it was mostly shot in Istanbul, Turkey, with dialogues delivered in both Turkish and Persian. Makhmalbaf has noted that he used a distinctly Turkish cultural element in the scene where the judge 'breaks the pen'.
The film consists of three episodes with relatively similar plots, and is distinguished by its short, carefully planned, philosophical dialogue. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, yet after appearing at the ninth Fajr International Film Festival it was banned in Iran and never received a public theatrical release there. The cast includes Menderes Samancılar.
