Counterparts

Counterparts (Gegenüber) is a 2007 German drama and the feature debut of director Jan Bonny. It examines the decay hidden inside a marriage that looks happy from the outside: police officer Georg and his wife Anne, a schoolteacher, have been together for years, yet her fits of rage escalate into violence, with the wife striking her husband in an unusual reversal. Exploring dependency, fear and silence with unflinching honesty, the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Özgür Özata is among the cast.
