Eat Your Catfish

Eat Your Catfish is a 2021 documentary directed and produced by Adam Isenberg, Noah Amir Arjomand and Senem Tüzen. A co-production of Turkey, the United States and Spain, the film is built entirely from a fixed camera in a New York apartment. Kathryn Arjomand, who lives with late-stage ALS, communicates through an eye-tracking keyboard while the film observes the 24-hour care managed by her husband Saïd and son Noah, the financial strain and the unresolved tensions of illness and caregiving. Kathryn's focus is surviving long enough to attend her daughter's wedding. The film premiered in IDFA's Envision Competition in 2021, won Best Documentary at the 2022 Istanbul International Film Festival and Best International Documentary at Sydney's Antenna festival, aired on PBS's POV in 2023, and received a 2024 Emmy for Outstanding Social Issue Documentary.
