Fatih's Loyal Follower: Kara Murat (Fatih'in Fedaisi: Kara Murat) (translated)
Fatih'in Fedaisi: Kara Murat is a Turkish historical action film directed by Aytekin Birkon that opened in Turkish cinemas on 16 January 2015. Produced by Es Yapım from a screenplay by Birkon and Fatih Usta, the film adapts the comic-book hero Kara Murat created by Rahmi Turan.
Kara Murat is a fearless young raider commander who, during the war between the Ottoman and Byzantine empires in Serbia, can ride alone into enemy ranks and turn the tide of a battle. His successes defending the Ottoman frontiers also attract Byzantine attention, while he risks his life to protect his country, his people, the empire and his family. At court, meanwhile, a succession struggle unfolds: Sultan Murat's brother Orhan Çelebi seeks only the throne for himself. When Sultan Murat hands power to his young and bold son Sultan Mehmet, certain circles take the sultan's youth as an opportunity and begin weaving conspiracies.
The character had earlier been made famous by Yeşilçam adaptations starring Cüneyt Arkın and Kartal Tibet; this film returns Kara Murat to the screen amid a renewed popular interest in historical period productions.
