Her Yerde Sen

You Are Everywhere (Her Yerde Sen) (translated)

TV Series · 2019 · 4 people

Karga Seven Pictures made Her Yerde Sen (roughly "You Everywhere"), a 2019 Turkish romantic comedy series loosely based on the Taiwanese series Just You. It premiered on 14 June 2019, ran for a single season of 23 episodes and ended on 23 November 2019. It aired on Fox.

At its centre are two stubborn young people, Demir and Selin, who both claim the same house and end up forced to live under one roof. The trouble does not stop at home: when Selin arrives as manager at the company where Demir works, avoiding each other becomes even harder. Furkan Andıç plays Demir and Aybüke Pusat plays Selin, with Aslıhan Malbora as Ayda Akman and Cem Cücenoğlu as Muharrem; Ali Yağcı is also credited.

Ender Mıhlar directed, and Deniz Yeşilgün and Esra Çetek Yılmazer wrote the script together. Zeynep Bastık made the title music. The series won best romantic comedy series at the 24th Golden Objective Awards, and at the 46th Golden Butterfly Awards in 2020 the Demir and Selin pair, played by Andıç and Pusat, took the best on-screen couple prize.

Two stubborn people claiming the same house, then the same company on top of it: Her Yerde Sen embraces romantic comedy's best-loved setup from the start and makes no secret of it. The show's real capital is the chemistry between Furkan Andıç and Aybüke Pusat; they didn't win the best on-screen couple prize at the Golden Butterfly Awards for nothing. One season of 23 episodes is a comfortable length for a show like this, and the story wraps up before it gets tired. Still, the two-rivals-who-can't-escape-each-other formula starts to repeat itself after a while, and the pace sags at times in the middle. For anyone looking for a light, pleasant companion.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

A romantic comedy, but the kind you can put on at home without worry. The bickering of two young people forced to live in the same house can make both teenagers and grown-ups laugh. The story runs on verbal sparring rather than real fights. Small children may get bored with the love story quickly; it suits teenagers and parents better. Having just one season is a plus too, it's easy to finish.

Cinephile Looks at script, editing and directing choices; keeps a distance from formula films.

Her Yerde Sen is a loose adaptation of the Taiwanese series Just You, and it has no intention of pushing the genre's limits. Two opposites forced to share a house, then a workplace where their relationship turns into a hierarchy: the script moves forward by stacking familiar situations on top of one another. Ender Mıhlar's direction is clean but shows no search for a voice of its own. Formula work depends heavily on its actors, and here Andıç and Pusat carry the load, as their award confirms. Zeynep Bastık's title music adds to the show's identity. A tidy piece of work for fans of the genre; predictable from start to finish for anyone after something new.
