Hotel Mondial

Hotel Mondial is a German early-evening series produced for ZDF between 2022 and 2023. The story begins when Eva de Vries, the hotel group's newly appointed manager, arrives in Schwerin determined to rescue the struggling Hotel Mondial through strict cost-cutting. She quickly clashes with the headstrong head chef Uli, and, unexpectedly, begins to develop feelings for her. Uli, meanwhile, shares a happy family life with housekeeping chief Jeremy. Soon afterwards, Lara Hildebrandt checks into the hotel with a hidden goal: she wants to discover what happened to her mother, who vanished from the hotel without a trace after a dramatic night years earlier. Exterior scenes were filmed on location in Schwerin, while interiors were shot in a former carpet factory in Geesthacht near Hamburg. The first season of twelve episodes aired from February to April 2023, followed by a second season from October to December 2023. In December 2023 ZDF announced the show would end, prompting fans to launch a petition to save it.
