L'ultimo amante is a 1955 Italian melodrama filmed in Italian, directed by Mario Mattoli, who co-wrote the screenplay with Aldo De Benedetti. Running about 98 minutes, it is a remake of Mattoli's own 1942 film Stasera niente di nuovo, which starred Alida Valli.

The story follows Maria, a woman living a bleak existence, who unexpectedly meets the journalist Cesare again at a police station after many years; he falls in love with her and tries to rescue her from her somber life. Amedeo Nazzari and May Britt take the leading roles, with Guido Celano among the supporting players. The film is also remembered for closing with the famous prelude from Giuseppe Verdi's opera La Traviata.
