Movie · 2020 · 2 people

My Best Part (original title Garçon chiffon) is a 2020 French comedy-drama directed by Nicolas Maury, who also plays the lead. Jérémie, an actor in his thirties, is on the verge of a breakdown after setbacks in his career and trouble in his relationship with his boyfriend Albert. To pull himself together, he leaves Paris and moves back to his hometown in the Limousin region to live with his mother Bernadette, played by Nathalie Baye. The return home forces him to confront both his bond with his mother and his own uncertainties.

The screenplay was written by Maury together with Sophie Fillières and Maud Ameline, and the supporting cast includes Arnaud Valois, Théo Christine, Laure Calamy, Jean-Marc Barr and Laurent Capelluto. Selected as part of the official lineup of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, the film could not be screened there because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It premiered instead at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival in August 2020 before opening commercially in France that October.
