Quantum of Solace
Quantum of Solace is the twenty-second James Bond film from Eon Productions, a 2008 spy adventure directed by Marc Forster, picking up directly after Casino Royale (2006) and Daniel Craig's second outing as agent 007. It opened in the United Kingdom on October 31, 2008 and in the United States on November 14. Critics praised Craig and the action but rated it below its predecessor. It still earned over $589 million worldwide, the seventh highest-grossing film of 2008.
The story resumes where Casino Royale ended. Seeking the truth behind Vesper Lynd's betrayal, Bond questions Mr. White and finds the organisation behind her blackmail far larger than assumed. The trail leads to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a member of Quantum who poses as an environmentalist and plans a coup in Bolivia to monopolise the country's fresh water. Camille Montes (Olga Kurylenko), who is hunting her family's killer, joins Bond. Judi Dench returns as M, alongside Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Giannini.
Producer Michael G. Wilson developed the story. Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis wrote the screenplay; Roger Michell was first named as director but left, and Forster took over. Filming took place in Mexico, Panama, Chile, Italy, Austria and Wales, with interiors built at Pinewood. The title comes from a 1959 Ian Fleming story.
