The Golden City (Taşı Toprağı Altın Şehir)

Taşı Toprağı Altın Şehir (The Golden City) is a 1979 Turkish film directed by Orhan Aksoy. Taking its title from the famous saying about İstanbul — a city whose very stones and soil are gold — it interlaces humour and melancholy in the story of hopeful newcomers struggling to gain a foothold in the big city. Levent Kırca plays the leading role.
