The Celestine Prophecy

The Celestine Prophecy is a 2006 American adventure film directed by Armand Mastroianni, adapted from James Redfield's 1993 best-selling novel of the same name. It stars Matthew Settle, Thomas Kretschmann and Sarah Wayne Callies.

The story follows a man going through a transitional period in his life who travels to Peru to find and understand nine ancient insights attributed to the Maya. Along the way he experiences a spiritual awakening rooted in Eastern traditions and New Age mysticism. Because the source novel had sold more than 23 million copies and ranked among the best-selling books ever, expectations for the adaptation were high. Instead, the film was widely panned by critics and became a box office failure, earning only about 1.5 million dollars worldwide.
