Vollidiot

Vollidiot is a 2007 German comedy directed by Tobias Baumann and running about 102 minutes. The screenplay was adapted from Tommy Jaud's bestselling novel of the same name by Jaud himself together with Christian Zübert.

At its centre is Simon Peters, a 29-year-old who works in a mobile phone shop in Cologne. Dumped by his girlfriend Tina a year earlier, Simon sets out to find a new and, above all, the right partner. His clumsy, mishap-filled quest gathers pace once he falls for Marcia, a barista he spots through a café window.

The comedian Oliver Pocher, hugely popular at the time, takes the lead, while the German-Turkish actor Hilmi Sözer appears in support. The film belongs to the run of novel-derived comedies that German cinema turned out in the second half of the 2000s.
