Veli Kavlak — Biography
Born in Vienna on 3 November 1988, Veli Kavlak is an Austrian former professional footballer of Turkish descent who played as a defensive midfielder. During his playing career he turned out for clubs including Rapid Wien and Beşiktaş, and earned 31 caps for the Austria national team, scoring one goal.
After hanging up his boots, Kavlak moved into coaching, most recently taking charge of Beşiktaş's U-19 side before officially parting ways with the club in December 2025. In January 2026 he was appointed head coach of Turkey's U18 national team, a post from which he announced his resignation around six months later, in July 2026.
