Veysel Sarı — Biography

Veysel Sarı is a Turkey international right back who joined Antalyaspor in 2020 and is now the club's captain. He won the Turkish Cup with Galatasaray in 2013-14 and extended his Antalyaspor contract by a year in June 2026.

He carried on playing football from the neighbourhood streets in the Beyoğlu Yeniçarşıspor youth ranks at 11. He drew attention as a goalscoring forward until injuries to the team's centre-backs led his coach Metin Kurt to move him into defence, where he stayed. In 2007 he joined the amateur side Dikilitaş, and his form for the amateur national team then drew Beylerbeyi, Galatasaray's feeder club, to him. He made his professional debut on 31 August 2008 against Gaziosmanpaşa as a right back, and scored 2 goals in 34 league matches in 2008-09.

He moved to Eskişehirspor in 2009, made his first Süper Lig appearance as a substitute at Trabzonspor on 29 November 2009 and stayed four and a half seasons. In February 2014 he transferred to Galatasaray and scored on his first appearance, in a cup match against Tokatspor. He went to Kasımpaşa midway through 2014-15 and to Antalyaspor on 17 January 2020. For the national side he began in 2011 with Turkey A2, scoring against Lebanon and playing four A2 matches; in 2013 he was called up to the senior team by Abdullah Avcı and scored in his first match, against Latvia.
