Yücel Uyar — Biography

Yücel Uyar (born 2 April 1960) is a Turkish former footballer who went on to work as a coach and football administrator. Wikidata places his birth in Samsun Province, while the Turkish Wikipedia article and the DBpedia record point to the district of Alaçam; the two agree, since Alaçam belongs to Samsun.

He played in midfield, and the Arabic Wikipedia article records a spell with Samsunspor. After retiring he moved into coaching and administration, and in 2011 he was head coach of the Turkey women's national team; in a federation interview that year he argued that grassroots football schools would broaden interest in the women's game.

Turkish press reported that in January 2019 he left his post at the Turkish Football Federation to sign with Yılport Samsunspor as technical manager, a spell that ran into the spring of 2022. In later years his name appeared in federation coverage of its football academy programme.
