Zaynê Akyol — Biography
Zaynê Akyol is a documentary filmmaker, producer, and photographer born in Turkey in 1987 who also holds Canadian citizenship. She studied at the Université du Québec à Montréal and has built most of her career in Canada.
She is best known for her feature-length documentary Gulîstan, Land of Roses (2016), made with support from Canada's National Film Board (NFB) and Germany's MitosFilm. Beyond directing, Akyol has also worked as a producer and writer, and her documentary work has centered on themes of women and conflict.
