Zeki Gülay — Biography

Zeki Gulay (born 15 August 1972 in Istanbul) is a retired Turkish basketball player who spent the bulk of his career with Fenerbahce. Coming up through the club's youth system and the junior national team, he was promoted to Fenerbahce's senior roster from the 1991-92 season.

Once tipped as a future star at a coaching clinic run by the noted coach Rusmir Halilovic, Gulay never fully developed his shooting technique but built a reputation as a hard-working, low-scoring big man. After leaving Fenerbahce in 1996 for spells at TED Ankara Kolejliler, Muratpasa Belediyesi and Turk Telekom, he returned to his original club in 2001 and later served as team captain.

Gulay played his final season for Fenerbahce in 2006-07, the year the club marked its centennial, winning the Turkish League title; earlier in his career he had also won the GSGM Cup in 1991-92. He closed out his playing career at Alpella before retiring in 2008.
