Ayla Arslancan — Biography
Ayla Arslancan, born Ayla Musaballı on 16 April 1936 in Istanbul, grew up in Ankara before turning to a career on stage and screen. She made her first stage appearance at the age of twenty and went on to become one of the familiar faces of Turkish cinema and television.
Over a career spanning nearly four decades, she moved from 1970s films such as Bitirimler Sınıfı and Diyet to the roles for which she is best remembered, in Züğürt Ağa, Selamsız Bandosu and Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar. In the 2000s and 2010s she remained active, appearing in television series including Gümüş, Fırtına, Annem and Sihirli Annem, as well as the films Kavşak, Ayrılık and Nar.
Arslancan died in Istanbul on 29 March 2015 at the age of 78 after battling lung cancer, and was laid to rest at Kozlu Cemetery.
